DUTIES:

Performs manual work of limited complexity; may assist in the performance of semi-skilled or skilled tasks; participates in various projects or tasks requiring physical labor such as street resurfacing, digging ditches, pruning shrubs, maintaining pipelines, valves, hydrants, and manholes; cleans streets, gutters, sewers, and catch basins; loads and unloads materials, supplies, equipment, trash, and other debris; salts streets and sidewalks and removes snow; assist craftsperson’s in moving materials, setting forms, mixing cement, etc.; performs minor repairs on PWSA facilities, streets, sidewalks, stairs, sewers, etc.; performs simple construction jobs (e.g., barricades, fences, etc.); cuts grass and weeds, rakes leaves and performs related grounds keeping tasks; cleans buildings, offices and the surrounding grounds; uses a variety of hand and power tools and pumps, sewer rodders, power mowers etc.; may drive trucks of one ton or less in daily routine; may assist in locating mains and service lines and in backfilling excavations; performs routine maintenance of equipment (e.g., power saws, compressors, etc.); and other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.

The Director of Water Production is responsible for the performance management of the operation and maintenance of PWSA’s Water Treatment Plant, membrane filtration plant, and pumping stations of the Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority, and is responsible for ensuring that produced water and water distribution system quality meets or exceeds applicable city, county, state, and federal regulations, as well as expectations of the consumers.

Verifying Residency

All Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority (PWSA) employees must be residents of the City of Pittsburgh. PWSA will accept the following documents to verify legal residence, also known as a domicile.  One way to determine if you are residing within the City of Pittsburgh is to see to whom you pay local taxes.  Several areas of the city have streets within the City and a borough (e.g. Greentree, Wilkinsburg). 

Human Resources will accept the following documents to verify residency. Additionally, the PWSA reserves the right at all times to request clarification and/or other supporting evidence and documentation to ensure that employees are compliant.
